 Color
sensors operate by sensing the reflected light of
internal RGB LED (red, green, blue) illuminators
and comparing the reflected light with the illumination
light to derive a high quality, high confidence
signal corresponding to the actual color of the
object being detected. Repeatability and/or deviation
from a specific value are key elements to this sensors
use in process control. Variations of this sensor
use a Halogen or tungsten light source or external
illumination. Applications include, fruit sorting
based on color, textile, or thread identification,
color verification of self-illuminating objects,
etc.
